Critique Service

Submission Guidelines:
Your submission should be no more than fifty pages, plus a synopsis of five pages, maximum. Your synopsis will not be critiqued, but will serve as a tool for the critiquer to better see where your story is going. Still, it’s not a bad idea to do the best you can with your entire submission package.

All entries should be ready to submit, so therefore clean in terms of grammar and spelling (don’t worry about the odd typo here or there, but you should ensure that the manuscript is as clean as you can make it…use spell check!). The last thing you want to do is distract the critiquer with hurried mistakes.

How This Works

  1. You've read the submission information and you want to proceed. Hurrah! Next step is to enter your information and make your PayPal payment of a mere $25.00 (we’re insisting on PayPal for ease—so many countries and currencies can be tricky, and take much longer to process).
  2. Once you receive confirmation from Joyce that your payment has been processed, send your manuscript as a doc attachment to crits@chicklitwriters.com
  3. Once we receive your submission, you will receive an e-mail confirmation.
  4. Your submission will be sent to one of our trained critiquers, who will then prepare a critique for you.
  5. Your completed critique will be sent to you. We are aiming for a six-week turnaround, but it will depend on the volume of submissions and the availability of our critiquers. If there is a delay in getting your manuscript critiqued Joyce or Gina will contact you to let you know.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact Joyce (who will be handling the submission portion) or Gina (who will be handling the critiquer portion).

If for some reason a critique of your submission cannot be performed by the designated critiquer in a timely or proper manner, you may choose to (a) receive a full refund, or
(b) agree that your work be sent to an alternative critiquer, which may mean that you will have longer to wait, or
(c) to have your work critiqued immediately by either Joyce or Gina in the full knowledge that they are running this service, therefore know your identity, and you are entirely comfortable with this situation.
