Step 1: Determine Eligibility and Format Your Submission
Eligibility:
- Published authors may enter if they have not signed a publishing
contract for novel-length romantic fiction (regardless of publisher)
within five years of the contest deadline OR if she/he has a book
with a small press or electronic press but has not year eanred
at least $1000 in royalties. If the author's book has earned $1000
or more (in other words, the author is eligible for PAN), then
the author may not enter this contest.
- Previously published works, whether RWA-approved or not, are
not eligible, with the exception of self-published works.
- Self-published works are eligible, but must be submitted in
manuscript format.
- THE NAME OF THE AUTHOR SHOULD NOT APPEAR ANYWHERE ON THE ENTRY.
- You may enter as many times as you wish, but you may not enter
the same manuscript in more than one category.
- All entries and score sheets will be returned through email.
- If we receive less than ten (10) entries in a category, that
category will be canceled. In the event a category is canceled,
entrants will be given the opportunity to choose a second category
or to have their entry fee refunded.
Formatting:
- Manuscript format must be 12 pt. Courier or 14 pt. Times New
Roman.
- Manuscript should be double-spaced, with one inch margins.
- The header on each page must contain:
- The title of the manuscript.
- FIRST CHOICE of category in which it is to be entered.
- The page number.
Step 2: Paypal or Check Payment
Payment must be received by June 20, 2009.

- $10 for CLW RWA members (Please include RWA member number.)
- $20 for other RWA members (Please include RWA member number.)
- $30 for non-RWA members
Step 3: Fill Out the Entry Form Below
- Emails must be received by June 20, 2009.
- The SUBJECT line of the email should look like this:
STILETTO ENTRY [TITLE OF ENTRY]
- The email itself should contain the name of the author and the
title categories.
- The SINGLE, UNZIPPED RTF attachment should
contain:
- The first 35 pages (anything more will be discarded before
judging).
- A synopsis (up to 5 double-spaced pages)
- NOTE: The entry should be ONE document that includes both the
chapters and synopsis.
- Pages should be numbered consecutively, beginning with either
the chapters OR the synopsis, and should not total more than forty
(40) pages.
Send the entry in ONE, UNZIPPED RTF file attached to a single email
to the appropriate email address for the category you wish to enter:
